In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfil themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree.
When a tree is cut down and reveals its naked death-wound to the sun, one can read its whole history in the luminous, inscribed disk of its trunk: in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness, all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written, the narrow years and the luxurious years, the attacks withstood, the storms endured. Estonians are known to be the forest people.
Nearly half of Estonia is covered by the forest and people simply have a strong connection with it.Trees speak without speaking. To be surrounded by these “serious and patient saints,” as Carol Ann Duffy recognized them, provokes the sentiments —sometimes nearly unnoticed— that bring people nearer to eternity and, therefore, closer to themselves.
By the time a kid in Estonia is in early teens, each member of the family had their own tree. It was never a conscious decision finding your own trees.

2. The Kyrgyz Yurt / Chiếc lều Kyrgyz
Những dòng trên là chút tản văn mình viết khi ngồi dưới những vòm cây xanh, một khu rừng già nằm ngay gần thành thị ở trung tâm nước Bỉ, nơi cách Bruges chỉ 15 phút lái xe và cách biển Bắc chừng 25 phút. Cả nhà đã có vài ngày cuối tuần trải nghiệm cuộc sống ở Yurt du mục và nhà cây - nhân dịp chồng bước sang tuổi 33.
Vài năm trước Jan sang Cornwall - Anh quốc để đi học một sư phụ chuyên làm lều Kyrgyzstan. Mục tiêu: tự xây Yurt bằng nguyên liệu từ chính khu rừng của mình, trong mảnh đất riêng rộng tới 12 ha. Trong mảnh đất này có khu rừng già với những cây cổ thụ trăm năm tuổi, đủ loại cây phỉ, hạt dẻ… lại có cả vườn cây ăn trái và mảnh vườn nhỏ Bio trồng rau củ của Jan và Elise, hang dơi và nơi trú thân của nhiều loại chim và sinh vật nhỏ. Một khu vườn Anh, hồ với những rặng liễu bay trong gió, cây cầu sắt… Có đủ tất cả những gì bạn cần khi muốn trải nghiệm tự nhiên mà lại không quá xa rời thực tại.

This eco yurt is hand-made by Jan with sustainable resources sourced from the old growth forest it sits in. Glamorous camping at its best near historic Bruges.
In 2015 Jan took an apprenticeship at yurtmaster Tim Hutton in Cornwall and set out to build his own yurt with sustainable resources from his forest. He harvested coppiced hazel on site and built this Kyrgyz yurt. It is set in an old growth forest in the middle of a 12 hectare old estate. The estate is very biodiverse in which you'll find a large pond; orchard; vegetable garden; bat-cave and all sort of animals etc.
In short it is an island of PEACE and REST.
Guests are required to be very respectful of the surrounding nature and its inhabitants. Conscientious nature-lovers will find the perfect setting to ground oneself; live simply in the tranquility. The yurt has 1 master bed and a pull out bed to sleep two more people. There is a another mattress under the bed for larger families. Inside there is a wood stove; an electric heater and a kitchenette. The up-cycled treehouse serves as a bathroom (with hot water), where one can take a calming bath (shower) with an excellent view on the forest. Under the treehouse there is a hammock and an outside stove to cook and where one can wash the dishes sheltered from the rain. There is another dry compost toilet on site called 'The Throne'.

4) Làm gì ở vùng này?
Nếu bạn muốn ngắm biển của Bỉ thì nên đến DE HAAN. Giữa De Haan và Wenduine có một số cồn cát đẹp, nếu không thì có thể đạp xe đến CADZAND ở Hà Lan. Thuê một chiếc xe đạp ở Bruges và đi theo con kênh đi qua ngôi làng cổ kính Damme đến Sluis (Hà Lan), từ đó thông qua Retranchement đến các bãi biển ở Cadzand. Bạn sẽ đi qua khu bảo tồn thiên nhiên t’ZWIN trên đường đến đó.
Ở trong Yurt, Jan cũng để rất nhiều bản đồ và guide với các tuyến đường / đi xe đạp trong và xung quanh Bruges:
KAMPVELD là cung hiking 9 km ngay đối diện với điểm rẽ vào đường Lariksdreef (đối diện quán Cowboy Up)!
BULSKAMPVELD và LOPPEM là hai toà nhà cổ có thể dễ dàng đến bằng xe đạp
BULSKAMPVELD có những con đường đi bộ trong rừng rộng lớn, có vườn rau phủ quanh tường, có phòng uống trà chiều và chỗ chơi cho trẻ em.
Lâu đài LOPPEM có một mê cung vui nhộn dành cho trẻ em và cả người lớn.WIJNENDALE, một lâu đài cổ tích khác với bảo tàng tương tác ảo.
4) WHAT TO DO in the region?
If you want to go to the Belgian seaside, I recommend going to DE HAAN. Between De Haan and Wenduine there are some nice dunes.
Otherwise you can bicycle to CADZAND in Holland which I highly recommend: Rent a bike in Bruges and you can follow a canal passing the quaint village of Damme to Sluis (Netherlands) which is idyllic and from there via the Retranchement to the beaches at Cadzand. You’ll pass the nature reserve t’ZWIN on the way there.
There are a bunch of maps in the yurt with walking/cycling routes in and around Bruges and area to choose from:
- KAMPVELD is a walking trail (9kms) just opposite the beginning of the Lariksdreef (opposite Cowboy Up)!
- BULSKAMPVELD and LOPPEM are two old estates nearby which I suggest you check out and easily reachable by bike from the yurt.
BULSKAMPVELD estate holds vast forest walks; has a beautiful walled vegetable garden; a visitor’s centre and a nice Tearoom (with playground);
The Castle of LOPPEM has a fun labyrinth for children and adults alike.
- WIJNENDALE, another fairytale castle with an interactive museum.
